Some days...

She is so funny. Others she is not, she is testing me I just know it.
What I find most entertaining is the start of her tantrums... and her looking at me to see my response! I remember laughing at my sister with one of her kids because all he had to do was look at her and she would smile at him, he is a teenager now but I am getting some payback because there are times I am hard pressed not to laugh, what an actress we have!

She is still very helpful. Will always go and get things for you when asked if she can find it.
She has started to throw things, this is good in way because it is some kind of silly milestone that means she is growing up, bad because she has good aim.
We are having a lot of fun with Peek a Boo around corners lately. To see her little head come slowly around the corner when she is peeking is priceless.
I have been trying to teach her to mount and dismount her horse by herself and the dismounting is working great! She will rock on her own and smile the whole time!
She has her favorite pans she likes to take out of the cupboard, lids that go along...
I gave her Nutella on a piece of toast today, she promptly licked the spread off and left the bread. Smart child.
One of my favorites is when she will walk herself to bed with puppy. It is so much better than putting her to bed before she is ready!
She does not like to wear mittens.
She loves her hat and scarf & fuzzy coat.
She loves shoes, thanks to her aunt she has several pairs!
We have not decided what to get her for christmas. Do you think I can get my husband to take me to FAO Swartz? :)

Busy week

Pieper being busy, she likes to take out some of the toys in her basket and sit in it!
I was in NYC for three days this week. Even drove into Brooklyn again for Thursday. Great meetings will all of the managers but I didn't even know today was Friday until Jeff told me. I am very glad it is Friday. The baby only protested a couple of times but I feel like everything is out of whack.
On top of that Pieper woke up from her nap with spots again. She did have a fever for a couple of days and I am pretty sure it is how it started last time. We did not go to the doctor, needless to say she was not her happy self today. She wasn't itching and I did the spot test the doctor told me about last time, if they don't start fading I will take her to the doctor on Monday.
She had an egg for breakfast, maybe she is allergic. I don't remember what she had to eat last time...
We were supposed to get a big snow storm Sunday. That has changed, looks like it will miss us completely. We just might have a green Christmas.

She still LOVES being upside down.

Baby update

Doctor appointment went well today. Baby is growing as baby should 1 lbs 7 oz. Still looks very squished! All looks well. GD test is in three weeks... dark cloud on the end of December! :)

Starting the 28th I have to go every three weeks instead of every four. Time has flown by....

07 December 2010

24 weeks

I am not sure where the time has gone!
Baby loves to move around. This time I don't have all of the kicking I had with Pieper just a lot of dancing around in there.
Baby loves milk, always moves and grooves after a glass.
Likes me to be on my side, this was the same with Pieper. I know some ladies who have slept on their backs but that isn't an options, baby just goes crazy and not in a comfortable way!
I am feeling pretty good. I feel full all of the time and getting up off of the floor is not as easy as it has been but there are moments, as long as I don't bend over, I don't feel the belly that is sticking out!
Our next appointment is Thursday. Since I ate everything in site for Thanksgiving I am sure my weight will have gone up by leaps and bounds. Still, I do have to get in all of the holiday cookies and fun before I have to take the GD test, I am sure we will talk about that Thursday.
We are having some cool weather, 30's. Strong winds though so it does feel a little cooler. We had some snow but nothing that stuck anywhere...

01 December 2010

Pieper 16 months

She is starting to talk a lot more. Words you can understand:
Moo, Duck, Please, Ma ma, Da da, Bottle, Grandpa, Bye-Bye, Moon, Puppy, Banana,
she is becoming a mimic, some words she will try to repeat after you say them but I don't think you can say she knows what she is saying.
She will tell you no when she doesn't want to do something.
She is a climbing machine, on anything she can get her toes into.
She will always get you a towel to dry your hands on after you wash them.
She is starting to become a little picky about what she eats.
She is a true cookie monster. She especially likes the pfeffernusse great grandma made.
She loves shoes, we had to buy a new pair when we were home for holiday, no more baby shoes, and she loves to put them on.
She still LOVES to look outside windows.
She likes to watch airplanes, this must be a baby thing as one of my friends just said something about how much her little boy likes them!
She likes to show you how to jump, she bends her knees and comes up really fast.
She is much faster at running circles around the house, we could walk around to chase her but now we have had to speed up our steps.
She still loves to read.
She likes Micky Mouse Club House, at least when they do the 'Hot Dog' dance.
Speaking of dancing, tonight when I was watching the Grinch she had to dance to the Who's singing. Had to climb down off of my lap to do it. She is a 'Who' at heart! :)
She is starting to help pick out what she wants to wear. Monday she had to have her halloween costume on!

18 November 2010

Shoes

Pieper loves to put on her shoes or put them on her stuffed animals. Case in point, KEM was asking Pieper to help her find her shoes ( she has started to hide things) and Pieper kept handing her the stuffed lion. KEM: "It is a very nice lion Pieper but I want your shoes" Pieper would pick up the lion and hand it to her. This happened several times until KEM finally LOOKED at the lion who was of course wearing Pieper's shoes! :)

17 November 2010

21 weeks

Pieper loves to move our chairs around(this is impressive because our chairs are heavy!), she tries to climb up on them, I am not looking forward to that day! She is also starting to use things to get a better reach on the counters(boxes, her potty). I don't think my counters are deep enough to keep everything away.
She loves to shut things: doors, microwave, drawers, dishwashers, washers anything she can. She is very helpful.

I had a doctors appointment last Thursday. Everything is looking great! Baby weighs in at around 1 lb 4 oz... not that I believe they can really tell. I think they are just being nice.
Baby still looks very squished to me. ( Yes, I do get to see the baby every appointment from here on out) Being older does have advantages! :)
Little person sure does move around a lot. Likes morning and nighttime of course!
I find it hard to believe we are half way through already. Need to get another picture taken, funny how hard that is... I would love to blame it on Jeff traveling so much but since I consider myself to be a good photographer I am pretty sure I could figure something out if I wanted to! Aren't husbands for blaming things on...? :) Love you husband.

I saw on Facebook how someone who is going to have a baby around the same time we are is going to last of her classes... like 10 of them or something crazy like that (I think they are going to extra), very great for them but I am glad we didn't do any of that (it costs a lot of money here in Greenwich, surprise!) First, I can't imagine the time. Second, I rather liked the way we learned as we went. Third, birthing classes... I agree with my sister... sometimes it is just better if you don't know some things going into it, I am much better at taking things as they come rather than as I have been told it will be. (shocker) That all being said, I am VERY lucky to have a mother and sisters to talk to, another plus about being older, everyone had babies already! I would like to thank them for all of their patience and advise that I am sure I will continue to gather about all of the fun and exciting things that pop up!
Enough late night ramblings!

Amazing

The difference between Jeff being gone all week (last week)and Jeff being home all week. Even though work has been crazy this week as well just having him home to help with little things like getting pjs on is amazing. I know.... it is only Tuesday! :)

11 November 2010

Hooray!

She slept through the night! I can't quite tell ( she is still sleeping and it is a little dark) but I don't see as many spots this morning!
Must have been the chicken soup I made yesterday! :) How she loves that soup.
Baby two was really kicking up a storm this morning, or maybe it was the hiccups. Such a fun little feeling. We have a doc's apt today to see how much the baby is growing. At least this one doesn't mind going to the doctor yet! :) Not that I blame Pieper, she gets poked and prodded a lot when she goes.
A big Happy Birthday to my fabulous sister Karla today!
Hugs and kisses to all of the veterans I know and don't know, thank you. Extra special kisses to my husband. :)

My still spotted baby

The fever broke last night but we still had a ruff one. She woke up every hour until I went and got her to hold her, then we both feel asleep on the couch until she woke us up and we moved to the bed. Very short night.
We took a nap together this morning that was much needed.
I think she has more spots but since the fever is gone I did not take her back to the doctor today. She looks like a very pretty Star Trek character. Poor little doodle. She didn't want to go down to sleep tonight by herself so I left the light on until she finally went down. I have to catch up on work that I haven't been able to do since Monday. Can't you see how well that is working?
Just wanted everyone to know she is doing better.

09 November 2010

Spots

On a happier day, she loves to put Jeff's shoes on or take them to him to put on in the morning. I know... sorry about her hair in the eyes but she always takes out what we put in, I have used mouse a couple of time to see if that works and it does for a small amount of time but she just woke up in this picture.

Pieper woke up from her nap today with spots. she had a little fever when I put her down but no spots, an hour later... spots, on her face and body. Not on her legs?
So being a first time (not for long) mom I did the little panic thing. Called for back up, Jeff came home and then I called the pediatrician. I don't want to be one of those moms who takes the child to the doctor for everything, I don't think they will be healthy. The doctor said whenever the child has a fever and spots I should bring her in for a visit. In this case she thinks it might be a virus of some kind, just have to watch her and the spots over the next few days and see what happens.
Pieper ate a good super and has been drinking well so I am under the impression things are not going to get worse. She isn't sleeping the best but who would?!

06 November 2010

20 weeks already...?

I am feeling just fine, not sleeping well at night but somedays I do like to sneak in a nap if possible.
My clothes from the first time around are all stretched out so they are not fitting very well, I will have to go get a couple of new items to see me through. I have been looking but I am still me, takes me a very long time to find something I like!
The baby is moving around most days, it is pretty fun knowing that is what is going on this time around. The baby way likes me to sleep on my side, it doesn't matter which side just doesn't like me laying on my back!
I am not quite as hungry all the time, sometime if it wasn't for sharing a snack with Pieper I think I might forget to eat until I was starving. Snacks are a wonderful thing.
I don't lose hair anymore, one of the benefits to being pregnant.
I have asked the doctor if I had to go on the gestational diabetes diet right away but she said that it doesn't kick in until the third trimester. I can tell you this, if I do fail the first one hour test I am not going through that three hour test again, I will just go with the assumption I have GD! That test was awful.
That reminds me, I need to bake some cookies! I need to get my fix in before that first test!
No real cravings that I know of yet. I am not as dizzy as I was with Pieper, I was always falling over ( in a controlled way) with Pieper but I have only done that a couple of times so far.
If you can believe this time around you need to take fish oil pills (or omega 3) it helps the babies eye development among other things. They have vitamins that include it now but I had just bought a big bottle of the same kind I have been taking for two years and didn't want to waste them so two pills a day for me!
I HAVE to have an ultra sound every doctors visit now, I am a year older you know! They have had to do it most visits anyway because the heart beat is hard to find. Baby is hiding behind the placenta...
Next appointment is Karla's birthday so we will see how the little person is growing.
Happy Birthday to Dad today.

29 October 2010

15 Months

Pieper is doing fine, growing just right.... she is 33" tall and growing.
She also remembers the doctor's office so the appointment wasn't all that fun. As soon as I put her on the 'bench' to take her clothes off she started crying... doctor said she remembers the previous shots. Needless to say the three shots we had today were no fun. We have to go back for a flu shot next month... really seems like a lot of shots to me but I never have liked needles.
We went to Jeff's office today in her Cindy Lou Who costume, Jeff wore a Grinch t-shirt to complete the look and it was a success. Pictures will follow. She did VERY GOOD considering she just had three shots in her arm and no nap, I am pretty sure we are in big trouble when the second 'angel' arrives. Pieper is a performer.

26 October 2010

Hide and seek

Pieper loves to hide. Right behind your back. She gets very quiet(even holds her breath) and then when you ask 'where's Pieper?' she will giggle after a while and poke her head around your shoulder and laugh. Priceless.
For the first time she turned off the TV. She pushed the button on the TV then turned and looked at me. I don't know if she did that today with KEM or not but she knew right where the button was... she was VERY proud of herself.

25 October 2010

Pumpkin Patch

She loved it, would have picked up every small pumpkin and put it in the wagon if Jeff hadn't taken the wagon away when we had our pumpkins!
