Puzzling

Pieper doesn't like orange juice or apple juice but tonight as I was drinking grapefruit juice she, as always, wanted to drink out of my glass, I thought this was going to be really funny... after the first drink and only a mildly funny face she wanted more and had about six drinks total...

We had a visitor, Jackie who used to work with me before she went to our London showroom stopped by for a visit. It was really wonderful to see her and Pieper really likes her a lot, she even brought her a shirt all the way from London!

growing up.

Going solo...

Jeff is traveling this week so Pieper and will be having a lot of girl time this week.
She has started to whine when she wants something, more with Jeff than with me but boy I hope she out grows that soon.
She doesn't knock down the stacks of block I make right away anymore... she bends down and studies the stack and picks a color in the middle and pulls on it from there.
We have been putting her on the potty, no success yet... but we are getting better at sitting on it longer, two books worth of time but not three!
It seems when she wakes up from her nap somedays she has grown up from the time we laid her down!
The capacity for learning amazes me, I feel very fortunate that she loves her books so much, I have to remind myself that when she picks up the 'good' books I don't let her read by herself... she has ripped two pages. (at least it hasn't been in the story itself, just the extra pages)
She still loves to dance and most any kind of music, piano really makes her bounce!
She is doing very good with her naps and going to bed at night and I hope I don't jinks myself. We ask her if it is time to put puppy night night and she will walk into the bedroom with puppy, we put puppy in the crib and then, sometimes after a brief chase we put Pieper in and she is out.
She will go get her high chair is she is hungry.
Walk to the sink while taking off her diaper if she is ready for her bath, I have a big sink in the kitchen, much easier on my back!
Go to the fridge and pull the towel off the handle if she would like some milk.
We have not started teaching her sign language. the doctor asked me and I asked why that is such a thing these days, she said it was so the child could communicate (as they can't talk yet).
I think Pieper has figured out how to let us know if she wants something... besides I refuse to teach or use the symbol for milk! Really intelligent people couldn't figure out something else?!
It has rained all day today but as CT was put on a mini water watch we were in need. I am sure the tomatoes with love it!

Welcome home Daddy

Pieper said Da Da yesterday when Jeff got home.

1 Year doc appointment

I don't know who had a worse time, me or Pieper. Two shots one in each are, one toe prick to squeeze out a bunch of her blood for who knows what test.... oh and lets not forget having to clean the wax out of her ears, she just loved that! I do not like have to hold my child down for her own good, not very enjoyable and I know there will be more and much worse things down the road, this didn't sit very well with me today.

Good news, she is 33" tall...way off the charts so her daddy will be beaming. She has lost a little weight she weighs 25 lbs. How much will she weigh to make me quit sharing that information. I can't imagine putting my weight on a blog! :)
For all of her developmental stuff she is ahead of the game so we are doing pretty good. We will see if the chicken pox show up in the next couple of days.... how fun with that be?

Jeff will be home from Minneapolis today. We have been watching phone videos in the morning and at night, she just climbs in my lap(with help) and puts her head on my shoulder and we watch it over and over again until she has had a good enough daddy fix then she is ready to play.

Pieper's 1st Birthday

She liked her cake!

Very happy to be sitting next to Great Grandma!

More teeth

Pieper is getting more teeth, her nose runs all the time with these teeth, I can't imagine how annoying that is for her.
She is a little cranky lately, I am hoping it is her teeth and not her personality!
She is totally hooked on the bottle with milk in it, I should have given her milk in the sippy cup...
She loves to be in the bathroom and shut the door. She likes to shut the bedroom door... there is a pattern here.
What is so fascinating about the fridge? If you open the door she gets right in there, if she could she would crawl up on the shelves.
Jeff is very good about letting her (in my opinion) fall off the couch in a lot of different ways, she loves doing it though, doesn't matter how she lands, she looks at you and grins.
She notices animals on TV, doesn't matter what kind although I think she laughs more at dogs.

way behind!

I know, I haven't been on forever. We went home for Meliska's wedding reception and stayed for Pieper's 1st birthday... was so great to see everyone. We miss you.
Just getting caught up this weekend! Pieper had a fever on Monday, her first one but it was gone by the next day. She was having a lot of fun kissing little kids when we were at a party on Friday, we assume that is where she 'caught' it.
She travels very well. The last hour in the 11 hour day is the toughest. We used to have 9 hour days but now we stop a couple of times and let her run around so it takes us a little longer.
She saw a lot of little cousins this trip and loved having people around her own size or just a little bigger.
She went to the Henry Doorly Zoo for the first time and Jeff was brave enough to go with us. Mom, Karla, Isaac, Olivia, Kyle, Trevor and Jak. She loved all of the rocks and butterflies. I am sure she will go again sometime.
Jeff and I golfed with Dad every morning and Karla even came once, that was beyond words, I do miss golfing. Grandma very kindly watched Pieper ( mostly we planed it around her naps)
She is not to sure about all of the new people and didn't really want to be left alone with them. Isaac & Olivia helped a lot with that I think.
She loved Grandma & Grandpa's big yard! She ate her birthday cake with her Great Grandma, go figure, she likes chocolate cake.
She met Graham, Kassie's little boy, for the first time, they were instant friends.
She met Elena, who was just born in April, she was really good with her, she 'petted' her very softly.
While Pieper will not eat eggs that I make, she ate eggs that Grandma made, what the difference is I don't know, I have not tried to make them here yet since we have gotten back.
The picture below is from Friday when Pieper went to work with me on Friday.
