9 months

We had our 9 month appointment yesterday. Pieper is 30" long and 24lbs. She has four teeth across the top, two on the bottom and two more coming in on the bottom. No rest for the wicked!
Both doctor and nurses asked if I was sure she wasn't one year old... she is a big baby. No one ever doubts she is a healthy child! :)
She walks around the couch, the wall, whatever she can. She falls down when she lets go no matter how much we tell her to hang on... but is smiling soon after the shock.
Sleep is elusive. It doesn't seem to bother her very much, she is a very happy baby most of the time. Ba ba ba, ma ma ma, aba aba aba, seem to be her favorites. She may even be an opera singer, the girl has a good set of lungs on her... especially when it is time to go to bed.
She loves buttons, i blame this on the trip home to Iowa, I had a sweater with buttons that I used as entertainment on the plane. Belly buttons, buttons of any kind make her smile.
She keeps trying to bite. I have had a bruise, Jeff has one and she just got KEM yesterday... we are working very hard to break the habit.
She didn't like her feet in the grass. I will try again on a warmer day, she had socks on but she must not have liked the 'mushiness' under foot.
She ate banana, not mushed just chopped today. Doctor said she could have everything but honey and nuts... we will try some meat soon.

At last

the last of the four front teeth broke through! But we think the two on either side are now coming in... no rest for the wicked.
Pieper and I woke up every two hours last night. I am hoping tonight goes a little better.
She stands up everywhere if she can get a hold of something. The crawling has begun, she pretty much has it down, just isn't very fast, not yet anyway.
I am going to have to put up some of her books. She loves to turn the pages and I don't want her ripping books that were mine or that were given to her. We are lucky in that we have several of the 'hard' books she can look at but she still wants all of her other books... so move them I will. :)
positive thoughts please that I will not be up every two hours tonight...

night night...

We are enjoying a 'cookie'
8 months in a dress my Grandmother bought for me!!! Of course I wore it when I was 2! (mom thinks)

3 all in!

One of the teeth is really fighting... there may be a fifth behind one, poor little baby won't let us look in her mouth very long and I don't blame her. She will soon have 6 total. Why the bottom two teeth came in so much easier I don't know.
Sleeping is down to four hours at a time... I feel like she is a newborn again but with a lot more weight! :)
We have our 9 MONTH appointment thursday, I am going to ask if there is something better for tooth pain than tylenol.

Four at one time...

Four top teeth in all at the same time have broken through, no wonder Pieper hasn't been sleeping through the night! She will have a total of 6
She also has slept on her tummy for the first (and second) time today, so strange to see her laying on her tummy in the crib...
She did a push up today, she was trying to stand instead of crawl... needless to say it was adorable.
She like cheerios, baby wheels, baby Cheetos (that is what they look like) and small pieces of the magazines she loves to tear apart! Really anything you put in front of her. We feel very lucky.
Pieper has been wearing a pair of her cousin Kyle's tennis shoes size 4, they are a little big, I may go buy her a better pair of shoes this week. She is pulling herself up and that is what the gal in the shoe store said to watch for... we shall see.
It is spring in Greenwich and the flowering trees are doing there best again this year, if I have said it once I will say it twice, this is one of the prettiest places in the spring I have ever been.
Jeff was in DC for work this past week, while we never like to see him go for so long it sure is fun to see Pieper's face when her daddy comes home.
She babbles all day long, very good at saying ma ma when she is tired or upset but mostly ba ba, we trying for button or book but we are not quite there yet. :)

Trying to hide

Those of you who have been in my apartment will see the true humor of this moment.
I tried to hide from Pieper today. I wasn't getting any work done so I attempted to hide on my bed... i am sure this would have brought most people to tears if they had seen it, you try laying as flat as you can, with your laptop, on your bed so your daughter can't see you from her walker and see if you can keep a straight face. I was very proud of how long I was able to keep my giggles quiet. I did not get anymore work done... which was the goal.
My friend Stacey is having her second child today. Tootsie Thompson as her little brother calls her will be here soon!

Byram Park

We went for a walk when Jeff got home from work.

Growing

We have moved up to a new car seat, Pieper outgrew the old one.
She pulled herself up yesterday and got up on all fours and tries to stand up from there, I don't think she has much interest in crawling... she scoots around the floor, sometime on her tummy but mostly on her bottom, amazing how far one can move while sitting...

I put all of her toys out on a blanket and set her away from the blanket thinking she would crawl to the toys, silly me, she moved until she could reach the blanket and pulled the blanket with the toys on it towards herself... fooling the Mama already!

She is mostly sleeping through the night, most nights anyway... not last night.
She had developed a very cute little giggle, I hope she holds onto it for a while.
Mama... she said mama yesterday a couple of times! I am not kidding myself to think she knew why she was saying it but it was great to hear it anyway... she normally says ba ba.
She still only has two bottom teeth... but working on more...
She loves pears. Likes avocado but didn't fall in love at first bite.

We have told our landlord we will be staying here another year, we had thought of moving but in looking around we have decided to wait another year and check things out. We will have to move some things around to Pieper proof soon...

Went to the park

We played hooky from work for lunch and went down to the park by Jeff's work. She didn't think to much of the swing but she watched all of the kids run around and really liked walking in the wood chips.
Lunch by Greenwich harbor.
Stopped to see the dinosaurs by the Bruce Museum

Happy Easter

We went to church this morning and those of you who know me knew Pieper had to have a hat! I couldn't find on so I am very proud to say I made one, I was up until 1:30 the night before... I remember mom doing that for prom... uh oh!
The hat wasn't as floppy as it looks in the picture, it is a true easter bonnet! She did great, only talked when the organ was really loud! :)
Cooked a turkey with trimmings today. Couldn't find a ham and I forgot to order it from the A town locker when I was home... Everything worked out great, right down to the pumpkin cheesecake, I have been wanting to try that for a long time, was pretty good. If you know anyone who is hungry we will be eating our way out of turkey for a few days... send them over!
(Sorry the picture is so dark, took it with Jeff's phone)
