We are ready as we are going to be...
Mom and Dad were out for a visit and and cut the trip short so they could get out of the way of Sandy. Glad to report the drive home was pretty good for them. It was GREAT to see them. We went to a pumpkin patch, and Two Door for fish and chips! The kids went right to them just like they see them every day so they had some seriously good play time!
We have gotten a small generator to keep the important things going, they are saying we are going to lose power... I choose to believe we might get lucky. We have a little wind right now but it is starting to pick up...
We just had a couple of trees cut down on Thursday which might turn out to be the best timing in the world! One tree was right next to the house...
I will say this... I doubt I will have to rake leaves a lot more more times after this storm!
Jeff's work is already sent out that he can work from home for two days, IF we have power, so we are really sealing in...
jeff went to get gas today and they were sold out. We had both filled up the cars and he was just trying to fill one of the gas cans up after filling the generator so we should have plenty of gas for a few days anyway, he even had to wait in line, I guess people are listening. If I am not mistaken some people were without power for two weeks after Irene. We are off of a pretty main road up here so we are pretty sure even if we lose it we will get it back pretty quickly and I hope we are right!
,
I can hear the wind picking up outside, it comes and goes in waves, we are supposed to have 60 MPH by 8AM... We shall see.
More later if we can.

A moment of spare time... quick peek at the House!

Pieper 3 years 2 months
Will work very hard to get her own way.
Will forget to got potty if she is busy or chooses not to...
Always wants to help me, especially when I am cooking.
Will set the table, asks to most nights, we do have to do some rearranging but for the most part she does great.
If she is the first to get up she will RUN out to the living room to put on Mickey because she knows when we get up we turn on the news.
If I can get her into bed by 8:45 I am thrilled! I know friends who have kids that go to sleep much earlier, I would love that, I have no idea how they do it but I am pretty sure I never went to bed very early either so it comes natural.
She loves to drink hot chocolate.
LOVES to eat soup, would eat it every day if she could.
Asks for ice cream almost every night but is you will remember she was getting up in the middle of the night and eating it so I have not been buying any.
On that note, Jeff bought what he thought would be a lock for the fridge, it came in the mail in the afternoon and by the time Jeff got home from work Pieper was opening and closing it... Kids got a new toy. :)
Loves going to the library programs and getting new books.< br> Who am I kidding, she loves to go anywhere, loves to stay in hotels, likes to fly...trouble.
We were going to the store and she said "Mom, it is time to get me some new shoes."
She definitely has some drama.
She loves to dance and did some great dancing at Stephen and Kate's wedding.
She does not like the Flintstones vitamins.
She does not like to be told what to do more than once, IF she (in her mind) is already doing it.

Pete 18 months
When Pete is getting in trouble he will stop what he is doing, giggle, run over and give you a hug, if it is really something bad he will give you a kiss!
He has started to hit Pieper, often for no reason...pretty sure that he is making up for lost time when he wasn't big enough to stop her from hitting him.
Loves to lay down in the bathtub (he looks like a frog swimming) and swim from end to end.
Sometimes eats a lot, sometime eats a little but will always eat the fruit first.
He is still in the 25% for weight and 50% for height. I must admit I have enjoyed having a 'small' baby for more than 6 months! ;)
Loves to lay on stuffed animals and hug, Elmo seems to be a favorite right now but I think that is because it is just a little bit bigger than he is.
Will do ANYTHING Pieper does, even if she just got in trouble for doing it.
Is much better at independent play than Pieper, that must be the second child thing?
Much to my dismay, he still loves to dump his drink cups.
He is very mechanically inclined.
Watches everything, when he walks into one of the bedrooms he will pick up one of the 'mudding' tools or a paint brush and use it in the wall, he will also try to sand the wall or climb the ladder and he is fast and will squeeze into a space no matter how small.
He is used to getting into bed with us around 4 am... Won't that be a fun one to break?
Wakes up every morning in the very best of moods, with smiles and some mornings, kisses and hugs, all before getting out of bed, such a great way to start a day.

Dear Allison
When the weather man says you will have intermittent light showers of rain starting at 1:00; don't believe him, don't put your kids down for a nap early and don't start painting the outside of your house.
I was able to get the part under the roof done so it wasn't a total waste of an early nap time! ;)
