Day one DC after the train.

 I will try not to get to post card with these and stick to the pictures of the kids.  I took out automatic camera as I thought it would be easier and less worry... totally the right decision.
We are setting out on a walk after getting in and Pieper's shoe fell off right away but it only did that two more times the whole trip.

 Playing on the Mall. We walked around the Ellipse before getting some dinner. We had to get take away as the kids were past hungry and tired so we ate in the room with a well deserved bottle of wine for us!

 White House, a lot of goings on during the week, we were able to see A LOT of helicopters every day including Marine One.

 Pieper talked to every squirrel that would get close and there were a lot.

 My previously camera shy little girl all of the sudden was wanting her picture taken, especially if it meant she was able to take one later...

 There is more than one kind of freedom in the world.

 View from our room.  If you looked to the right you saw the Lincoln Memorial and the top of the Pentagon and Arlington were between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.

 This little park, maybe Jeff remembers the name (Freedom  Plaza - it has the diagram of DC inlaid and was a frequent rallying point for Tea Party events a year or two back - Jeff) is right out of our Hotel door, such a view.

It looks like a picture of our car in the foreground but it isn't I just couldn't resist.
